The mayor of Moscow stated that the Moskvich plant “will produce the most modern models, with the transition to electric vehicles”, actually signed that we are talking about Chinese cars, because he simply has nowhere else to go. The development of its own model and preparation for production will take years with an ambiguous result.
You can of course count on the French to allow the production of the same Arcana with a Russian name on their former acquisition, as happened with the Duster, which is now LADA, but here we are tormented by supplying components – the Chinese corridor is somehow not very good, but works… Exactly the same story with Sobyanin’s ‘transition to electric vehicles’. Otherwise, as a Chinese version, for lack of own developments (KAMAZ’s Kama in the coming years does not count either).
Well, if the city council considers a screwdriver assembly of a car from China as an import replacement, then the flag is in their hands. Only it is unlikely that the ‘Russified Chinese’ will turn out to be both massive and cheap, as we have been widely promised. Yes, and with quality-reliability-maintenance service, these “Muscovites” will clearly have serious problems. Exactly the same that the consumer encounters when purchasing the “heavenly” vehicles already offered by us.
And we must not forget that China is unpredictable and not very reliable in terms of long-term partnership – today it is our true friend. And tomorrow? And the current friendship is still a one-sided game, because the Chinese comrades, if according to the Hamburg account, see in Russia nothing but a resource base. And the one who sells cheap.
