At the end of December 2023, there were 3,600 official dealers in the Russian Federation. Of these, Chinese brands accounted for 2,300 showrooms from 34 brands, and the top ten in terms of number of showrooms included two brands that only entered the domestic market last year: Jaecoo and Jetour.
According to the results of the research of Otkritie Auto and AutoBusinessReview, in terms of the dynamics of dealer network expansion in 2023, JAC is the leader in the Russian market (+73%), and in terms of overall coverage, Chery maintained its leadership (207 showrooms).
However, the stability of business at ‘Chinese’ car centers leaves much to be desired: almost 200 dealers were closed last year. In just one year, there were 1,568 showrooms in our country – 1,400 of which were dedicated to ‘heavenly’ brands. In most cases, these were not new points of sale, but dealers of brands that had left the Russian Federation.
Chery opened 41 car dealerships during the year and closed 18. The growth of the network turned out to be relatively low (+13%), and in the capital region the brand’s dealers are becoming overcrowded – there are already 36 of them. Geely closed ends the year with 170 showrooms – 20% more than in 2022. During the year, nine dealerships of the brand were closed in Moscow, the Moscow region and outside the Urals. Omoda closes the top three after the number of points of sale increased more than one and a half times to 165 over the course of the year. In most of these, salons of the Jaecoo brand (159 dealers) have also been opened nearby.
