Svetlana from Kharkiv, who arrived in the country after Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, told MK about the theft of license plates. When the locals began to roll license plates from Ukrainian cars, for a long time they did not understand what it was about.
Later it turned out that the Bulgarians do this to avoid having to pay for parking. Citizens of the country simply attach Ukrainian registration plates to their cars when they leave the vehicle in a paid parking lot, then discard the “signs” as unnecessary. Victims of theft have to order duplicates in Ukraine, and this takes time. And of course you can’t drive without cans. The local police are not eager to investigate such incidents.
In addition, many cars that came from Ukraine still run on winter tires. Motorists simply do not have the money to buy summer tires. By the way, if a police officer notices that the tires are very worn, the fine will be 50 leva (a little more than 1500 rubles).
