The authorities of the Moscow region are counting on the recovery of car production at the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant near Moscow. This is reported by the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.
– Yes, there is Mercedes, which stopped later than everyone else and now thinks – this is a sensitive stop for us, because both the 1,500 people who work there and the company itself are successful. It will be a pity if they stop for a long time, but we’ll see, – said the head of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov on Sputnik radio.
The Mercedes-Benz assembly plant is located on the territory of the Esipovo industrial park in the Solnechnogorsk city district. It was built within two years and started working in 2019.
The company was engaged in the production of Mercedes E-Class sedans. It was planned to start assembling the GLE, GLS and GLC crossovers later. Due to the Ukrainian events, the factory in Esipovo stopped functioning.
