The Committee on Transport of the State Duma has approved a bill that gives the constituent entities of the Russian Federation the right to establish a minimum level
As RIA Novosti reports, Senator Andrei Kutepov and Deputy Vladimir Gutenev have proposed amending the Federal Law “On the Organization of the Transport of Passengers and Luggage by Passenger Taxis in the Russian Federation” and certain legislative acts to oblige taxi companies to provide domestically assembled cars to buy . “A law or other regulatory legal act of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation may impose requirements on the level of localization of vehicles used as passenger taxis,” the text of the bill reads.
The explanatory memorandum to the law notes that changes need to be made to minimize the risk of increased dependence of the taxi sector on imports, ensure independence from the pressure of sanctions and even limit the inflow of investments. “The introduction of the proposed amendment will provide additional stimulation of demand for domestic, highly localized cars from the taxi sector,” the senator and deputy are confident. The State Duma agreed with them.
