The start of production of an extensive modification of the Vesta sedan, called Aura, is scheduled for September 2024. Officials will be the first to take delivery, but later everyone will be able to drive the spacious four-door, as AVTOVAZ plans to release a more affordable version of the model, adapted for taxis.
The Lada.Online portal reports that residents of Volga are considering the possibility of producing the LADA Aura in a simplified version for use in a taxi. The interior of this version will be lined with fabric instead of leather, the front panel will lose the multimedia system with a 10-inch display, and the “tidy” will become analog – with regular scales and arrows instead of a digital screen.
Most likely, such a sedan will also have a replacement power unit – instead of a 1.8-liter engine, they will install a 1.6-liter engine and a manual transmission instead of a CVT.
AVTOVAZ confirmed the development of a taxi version of Aura, but the press office noted that “it is too early to discuss the detailed configuration.”
The head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, previously reported that the cost of the model will be “significantly higher than two million”. He called the extended sedan a “premium class car” and noted that the organization of mass production this year is only possible with the implementation of all government support measures.
