Recently, Russian drivers were faced with a problem that every owner of a high-tech car from China faces: the impossibility of repairing their iron friend at any cost. However, the AutoVzglyad portal saw nothing unexpected in this.

Thunder from the clear sky, freely distributed throughout the domestic automotive industry, is heard with enviable frequency. However, this is not at all the thunder that was once sung by Gavrila Romanovich Derzhavin:

“The thunder of victory sounds,

Have fun, brave Ross.”

For after each successive clap of thunder, the said Russian not only had no pleasure, but, on the contrary, shed bitter tears. And he never tired of marveling at the preternatural wisdom of the auto-bureaucrats, whose unyielding actions shocked the industry time and time again.

Turns into a brick

However, we must pay tribute to the Russian drivers. If at some point the high authorities hesitated and did not have time to throw firewood into the furnace of popular indignation in time, then they themselves successfully dealt with it.

For example, here is what the founder of the company RogovMobil, Dmitry Rogov, said to Rossiyskaya Gazeta: “Now the nuances of Li Auto cars are beginning to become clear. People brought cars, started having accidents, and they say that if the airbags go off in the car, it turns into a stone. It can be repaired purely externally, but cannot be reactivated; for this the vehicle must be brought to China.”

It also turned out that to achieve such a transformative effect it is not at all necessary to ruin a Chinese engineering miracle in an accident. It is enough to simply discharge the battery of a Lixiang hybrid electric vehicle to zero, and voila! – all electronic systems will be firmly blocked.

It is theoretically possible to solve the problem. It is enough to connect diagnostic equipment and programmatically remove the error. But even in China, the manufacturing company does not encourage such waste, such as repairing its own cars. She immediately offers the injured owner… to buy a new car at a decent discount, and scrap the old one. But that’s in China. And in Russia, the main problem of Li Auto owners is that in our country there are no official dealers of the brand, nor the necessary diagnostic equipment to remove the fault.

Ashtray overflowed

The question arises involuntarily: what do people hope for when they buy expensive hybrids at a price of 7 million rubles, which are supplied to us exclusively through parallel import schemes? Where do they go with their problems when they appear? Beijing, where the brand is headquartered, or Changzhou, where the production facilities are located? Even European and Japanese models that have been working in Russia for a long time have problems with maintenance and spare parts after the introduction of sanctions. What can we say about a company that wasn’t even visible here until last year?

In turn, Li Auto’s management acts, albeit unusually, but reasonably. Probably, one of the top managers of the company once heard an old joke about a brother who came to a car dealer to replace a car with a clogged ashtray with a new one. Something broken? Don’t worry, take another car. We give it away cheaper. It must be said that such tactics paid off in the short term. In December, the brand took 10th place in sales among all brands in the Russian market, with 1,968 Lixiang cars according to the Autostat agency.

The first step has been taken

But overall nothing surprising. Wherever we wandered, we got there. Old-timers can still remember the time when renovations were really renovations. That is, if a part broke, the craftsmen would disassemble it, replace the defective part and reassemble it. But gradually this ‘debauchery’ came to an end. Malfunctions were repaired gradually – the entire unit was replaced. Fast and profitable. A cheap part is defective and the customer pays for the entire device.

The further development of the idea must be clear to everyone. The entire car will be disposable. It doesn’t matter at all what came loose, even a stud on the hub – buy a new car. And the Chinese took the first step in this direction.
