Legend has it that the legendary aircraft designer Andrei Tupolev once said, “Ugly planes don’t fly.” But ugly cars drive unfortunately. And an example of this is the convertible UAZ “Profi”, which was built by the company “Universal-NN” in Nizhny Novgorod.

Bodybuilders in Nizhny Novgorod cut a roof panel and a rear wall from a two-row cab of a UAZ Profi truck. Then, instead of the standard body on board, a fiberglass platform was lifted, supplemented with patriotic lanterns, and finally a tubular frame, on which a fabric canopy is stretched.

The output turned out to be a sightseeing car for the southern regions of the country. The car may look very neat with the tarpaulin off, but the primitive canvas roof makes the Pro look like a strange homemade garage.

Nothing new in terms of technology. under the hood is a 150 hp ZMZ Pro, to which a manual 5-speed gearbox is coupled. The drive is hardwired four-wheel drive with a reduction gear and an optional rear differential lock.

Earlier, UAZ showed the “ideal” car for traveling around Russia. That makes sense: this summer, when the prices for renting hotels, apartments, rooms and, in general, every nook and cranny in domestic resorts skyrocket, Russians will certainly remember the Soviet traditions of camping.
