Volkswagen has chosen a name for the electric station wagon

Volkswagen has registered the trade designation ID.7 Touring with the European Patent Office. Apparently, this will be the name of the conveyor version of the ID.Space Vizzion electric station wagon. The German brand also owns the rights to the ID.7 index and it will be received by the platform sedan, now known as the Aero.

Production versions of the Volkswagen ID.Vizzion electric sedan and ID.Space Vizzion station wagon will receive the designations ID.7 and ID.7 Touring. According to Auto Motor Und Sport magazine, the name for the five-door appeared in the database of the European Patent Office in mid-May, and the Germans reserved indices from ID.1 to ID.9 back in 2020.

The ID.7 and ID.7 Touring are likely electric cars currently codenamed Aero and Aero B. They will replace the Passat model and enter the Emden plant in 2023. Versions with one and two electric motors are expected, which can travel up to 700 kilometers on a single charge on the WLTP cycle.

This is far more than any other production ID car and even the Space Vizzion concept, which was claimed to be 590 km with an 82 kilowatt-hour battery.

The ID.Buzz show car had a battery of 111 kilowatt-hours, so the serial ID.7 and ID.7 Touring can get just that. Although there will be more likely to be several options of different capacities.
