Why Land Rover Actually Released An Abnormally Long Defender

The three-row modification of the Land Rover Defender, which has been caught more than once by photo spies, has finally been officially presented. The novelty received an index of 130, as well as a whole range of gasoline and diesel engines. But its off-road capabilities have become more modest. Apparently the British went for it on purpose.

Land Rover Defender 130 turned out to be the longest “Def” in the history of the current generation of the model. And while the 3022mm wheelbase is the same as the Defender 110, the rear has been extended by a whopping 340mm. As a result, the length of the car was 5358 mm, and the rear overhang increased to 1491 mm, which reduced the off-road capabilities. But the British didn’t seem to be after them. It was much more important to accommodate eight people in the cabin and make the back row as spacious as possible. Apparently, buyers demanded more comfort, and the manufacturer agreed.

The novelty received an exclusive body color Sedona Red and new combinations of leather and natural veneer appeared in the interior. The basic package already has a Pivi Pro multimedia system with 11.4-inch screen, Cabin Air Purification Plus air purification system, air suspension and four-zone climate control.

As for the power units, the three-liter “six” Ingenium appear in the range: gasoline P300 (300 hp) and P400 (400 hp), as well as “diesels” D250 (250 hp) and D300 (300 hp). They all work with an eight-speed “automatic” and all-wheel drive iAWD.
