Recently Istanbul Technical University, Ericsson and Turkcellsigned the 5G Technology Campus project with the event at the ITU Ayazağa Campus.

One of the most interesting points of the event was the local and national electric autonomous bus. If we look closely at the bus, we see that we don’t have to wait that long before we see it on the road.

We’ve seen this bus before.

The bus in the video karsan created by electric e-ATAK autonomous bus. The 8-meter-high vehicle was put into service in Tampere, Finland, becoming the country’s first electric autonomous bus. Now we see the vehicle at the ITU Ayazağa Campus. Thus, e-ATAK succeeds in becoming the first domestic autonomous bus in its home country.

LIDAR is used to detect the vehicle’s surroundings. So-called sensor technology is used. This allows the autonomous bus to detect surrounding pedestrians, vehicles in traffic and other objects or living beings that may get in its way. In addition, 5G technology is also used in the vehicle. It has not yet been tested in very limited areas. 5G connection This allows e-ATAK to respond faster.

The regulations surrounding the inclusion of fully autonomous vehicles in traffic in Turkey have not yet been finalized. It appears that there is a driver in this vehicle, but this driver is more responsible for intervening in emergency situations and acting as an operator. During the vehicle’s journey, the driver will not intervene in the bus unless absolutely necessary.
