It’s no secret that domestic (and especially Moscow) urban planners like to refer to the experience of European colleagues and suggest organizing special lanes, pedestrian zones and other bicycle paths everywhere and everywhere. And the portal “AvtoVzglyad” has a find that will certainly please specialists “when planning a comfortable urban environment for living”.
From June 1, new traffic rules have come into effect on Lithuania’s roads. The new Lithuanian traffic rules introduce, among other things, the concept of a “bicycle street”. Here, motorists are prohibited from accelerating faster than 30 km/h and overtaking cyclists. In addition, cyclists do not have to stay on the right side of the road in such places.
Another innovation is special A+ lanes, where public transport, cyclists, scooters and quads can move, as well as cars transporting people with disabilities. Electric vehicles, taxis, motorcycles and cars with more than four people are also allowed to leave if there is a special mark on “A +”.
I wonder how soon domestic urban planners will try all these innovations on Russian roads?
