The story of Audi is that the German engineer August Horch founded Horch & Cie. in Germany in 1899. It starts with his founding of Motorwagenwerke AG.

However, Horch was terminated in 1909 due to disagreements with the company’s board of directors. must leave his company remain. Undaunted, Horch decides to start a new car company that same year.

Of course, he can’t use the name ‘Horch’ this time, so he chooses the name Audi, which means ‘listen’ in Latin.

When the year was 1932, events were taking place all over the world economic depressionforcing Horch into a series of collaborations. As a result, Audi merged with Horch’s former company Horch, DKW (Dampf-Kraft-Wagen) and Wanderer under the name Auto Union.
