Motor tourists who decide to visit Abkhazia with the onset of the 2022 summer season will face a new unpleasant waste associated with civil liability insurance on the territory of the republic. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.
Abkhazia has introduced compulsory insurance for cars arriving in the territory of the republic from other countries – an analogue of the Russian OSAGO. Now any local traffic cop can fine the driver of a car with foreign numbers of 600 rubles if he does not have a policy with him. The fine threatens not only drivers of Russian military vehicles, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps. All other motorists entering Abkhazia must purchase a policy when crossing the Russian-Abkhaz border, as well as at the traffic police posts of Bzyb and Primorskoye.
Insurance is sold by three local state-owned companies: Garant-Strakhovanie, the Abkhazia National Insurance Company and the Abchazgosstrakh Insurance Company. The price of a policy for a period of three days is fixed for each vehicle at the level of 500 rubles, for 15 days – 1000 rubles, and for a year – 8500 rubles. Payment to the victim in the event of an accident – within 120,000 rubles. At the moment, it is only possible to conclude an insurance contract with a personal visit to the point of sale – from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. This complicates the lives of motorists entering Abkhazia at night. However, local authorities promise to organize online sales of policies from June 16.
