The Belarusian Automobile Plant showed a 7558N mining dumper, which is radically different from its counterparts. Behind the letter “H” is a gas piston engine that runs on liquid methane.

It is curious that BelAZ prefers not to name the engine manufacturer – most likely, this is a company from the Middle Kingdom. But his cryobac is known to be enough for continuous use for 12-14 hours. It is also stated that the switch to “cold fuel” will immediately reduce the operating costs of the “quarry” by 30%.

Recall that liquid methane is obtained by gas cleaning, drying and cooling in a special factory. To carry out the last operation, nitrogen is added to methane at a temperature of minus 180°C. The last operation is the liquefaction.

At the same time, LNG engines are very environmentally friendly. During operation, they emit 99% less soot, 90% less non-methane hydrocarbons and 70% less nitrogen oxides than Euro-6 class diesels. So “cold fuel” looks very attractive.

A BelAZ prototype is going to work on one of the cutbacks in Kuzbass. But the Belarusian automaker is sure that there will be a stable demand for such equipment. In addition, the closest plans of the residents of Minsk include the creation of a gas-diesel version, in which the engine runs on a mixture of methane and diesel.
