Moscow traffic police began to fine ambulance drivers en masse
Moscow authorities are forcing city ambulance drivers, like all other cars, to drive strictly according to traffic rules. Where this will lead, the AvtoVzglyad portal says.

Andrey Podolsky, general manager of Mosavtotrans State Unitary Enterprise, issued an order demanding that ambulance drivers do not break traffic rules. That reports the channel Baza in Telegram. The document concerns the drivers of Mosavtotrans fleets, who work in the city’s medical ambulance service. The warrant provides statistics according to which 4,450 traffic violation decisions were made against drivers of the city’s emergency medical service from early 2022 to the present moment using automatic recording cameras. Of these, 117 – on the facts of driving through regulated intersections at a prohibition light.

In this regard, Mr. Podolsky recommends additional instructions for drivers about crossing intersections, as well as fines for violations of traffic rules. Fleet management is also obliged to obtain explanations from drivers for any “imposed” fine for driving at a “red” intersection. In case of repeated such misconduct, drivers are ordered to deprive the monthly bonus.

The meaning of the existence of an ambulance is the ability to deviate from the requirements of the traffic rules in order to save the life and health of patients. It is not difficult to assume that ambulance drivers, under the threat of losing the bonus and thus without a fair share of their already not very high monthly wages, will drive strictly according to the traffic rules – slowly and unfortunately.

It is even hard to imagine how many patients will suffer as a result of the order of the head of the State Unitary Enterprise. In addition, one of the unlucky will most likely lose his life – while his ambulance will be disciplined to stand in the next metropolitan traffic jam. In a sense, Andrey Podolsky’s motives can be understood: 4,450 fines from cameras for six months are paid from the budget of his organization, which is not rubber. And he has to do something about that.

But that does not make the situation any less wild: after all, fines for ambulances are handed out by specific employees of the capital Deptrans, who work in its Traffic Management Center (TsODD), who view the data from city cameras, see emergency vehicles in the photo and without hesitation fines. The appearance of more than 4,000 such fines in just six months indicates that this practice is by no means an accident, but a system created by the leadership of the Moscow Ministry of Transport.

So it turns out that it is this department that will ultimately be guilty of the death of any patient that the ambulance does not have time to go to the hospital because the driver was afraid to get a fine from the camera and lose the bonus because of this . At the same time, there are serious suspicions that the employees of Deptrans do not care about all of the above – after all, such “little things” do not concern them personally. Until you yourself fall out to travel in an ambulance…
