The Big Three of China – the Haval, Geely and Chery brands – are developing at an insane pace in our country and more and more incredulous Russians are moving towards the ‘heavenly’ side. And the most impressive are the results of Chery – a company that does not even have localized production, although this is a good help for any foreign manufacturer. What is the secret of her success? The answer to this question was found by the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Let’s put aside all prejudices about Chinese cars – their fragility, poor build quality, long supply of spare parts, lack of qualified service specialists, illiquidity in the secondary market. You can treat cars from the Middle Kingdom however you want – this is a personal matter for everyone. But the fact remains: the “Chinese” rod as steam locomotives, and even despite the crisis they are gaining new fans.

Haval has the highest demand in the country – in January-April, for example, 9123 people chose this brand. Chery is on the second line: the result is 6722 cars sold. And Geely closes the top three – his dealers “stitched” 5976 cars. However, if we take into account that Chery also has a premium sub-brand Exeed, which found 2,715 buyers in its first four months, it rightly belongs to the top spot.

But why? How can Chery without localization (and therefore without preferences of our authorities, the ability to lower prices and respond quickly to the needs of Russian consumers) not only compete on an equal footing with compatriots, but even surpass them? Let’s find out.

You could start with the fact that Chery cars have really changed in recent years both externally and internally – thanks to the collaboration with leading European designers and engineers. But this also applies to Geely and Haval – they also do not hang around pears, but introduce new technologies and improve their appearance. So here – an objective draw.

Let’s take a look at the prices. The Haval F7 crossover, which is in great demand in Russia, is offered today at a price of 2,639,000 rubles. Chery, if you consider the size and power of the engines, can counteract him with the Tiggo 7 Pro – a car that costs for itself 2,309,900 rubles. Or let’s compare the “compact” pair of Haval Jolion and Chery Tiggo 4: 2,179,000 and 1,649,900 “wooden”. Agree, the difference is noticeable. And this despite the fact that Khaveil has its own factory near Tula.

“Who cares if you can’t buy cars at this price anyway?” – maybe, you ask, and you’ll be wrong. Chery has another trump card: partnership with the online dealer of the capital, which allows you to buy a car at a recommended retail price without surcharges. And by the way, he works not only in Moscow, but also in Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar.

Incidentally, other foreign car manufacturers also tried to promote the same virtual story in Russia. Think, for example, of Kia and Hyundai with their online showrooms. The main advantage of such a scheme, the “Koreans” also mentioned the possibility of buying cars without surcharges. The only problem was that the machines themselves were never available. Never. No. Chery has everything, kind of, different.

We always have several hundred cars in stock. Only the new Tiggo 8 Pro Max will have to wait, and then no more than four weeks. Chery often and quickly brings cars to Russia: we don’t see any problems with the delivery of cars or with the delivery of components,” Tatyana Denisova, Dealon general manager, told the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Here it would be appropriate to mention another asset: partnership with Sovcombank. The Chinese have agreed to provide an interest-free repayment plan with no deposit, which has proved very useful in the current crisis. By the way, as the AvtoVzglyad portal was told by its own sources, Geely also thought of this, but something did not work for them due to family ties to European companies.

It turns out that in terms of design, technology, equipment and hardware, the brands in the Big Three are equal, plus or minus, but Chery is just more affordable. And the model range is broader in a global sense: Russians are offered both relatively cheap SUVs such as the Tiggo 4 and premium (albeit conditionally so far) Exeed crossovers. Lack of sedans. Although there is a chance that Chery will bring Arrizo 5 Plus to us in the foreseeable future.

But even if we forget about this model – after all, the appearance of a four-door is a big question – Chery is preparing a lot of other pleasant surprises. What is a truly revolutionary crossover Omoda 5, which should come to us before the end of this year. Next to him we are waiting for the next generation Tiggo 4 (the model with the prefix Pro in the name) and the four-wheel drive Tiggo 7 Pro.

Given all of the above, it’s safe to assume that in the near future Chery will solidly strengthen her position and probably even knock Haval off the ‘Chinese’ pedestal. And there you also see a production partner: Chery localizes the assembly, making the products even more affordable. We can only hope that it will not be UAZ, because the disgusting quality of the Ulyanovsk assembly is unlikely to increase sales and consumer loyalty …
