Mazda wants to take important steps to expand its range of electric and hybrid vehicles. The Japanese automaker halted production of the MX-30 EV, the first electric vehicle

Mazda wants to take important steps to expand its range of electric and hybrid vehicles. The Japanese automaker halted production of the MX-30 EV, the first electric vehicle to go on sale in the U.S. last year. Following this move, Mazda, which was unable to offer a new electric vehicle in the US market, began the process of revising its electric vehicle strategy.

Although the company offered its world’s first electric sedan, the EV-6, for sale in the Chinese market at affordable prices, it failed to attract the attention of consumers in the US market. Because the EV-6 is produced in collaboration with China-based Changan Automobile Imposing a 100% tariff on imports to the US was one of the main reasons for this situation.

Mazda has now announced its own hybrid and electric vehicles to make a name for itself again in the US and global markets.

The new hybrid CX-5 and electric SUV will go on sale in 2027

In addition to the new hybrid CX-5, which is expected to be launched between 2025 and 2027, Mazda is preparing to launch a fully electric SUV by 2027. The company stated that in addition to this new EV model, plug-in hybrid versions are also in development.

Mazda’s new electric SUV was introduced at the Beijing auto show last summer Similar to the Mazda Arata concept is expected. Mass production of Arata is expected to start in late 2025.

Mazda, which has signed agreements with Panasonic and AESC to secure battery supplies for its electric vehicles, aims to reap the benefits of this agreement by 2030.
