British analytics firm JATO Dynamics has published the results of a survey that aims to identify the world’s most popular car model by 2021. So it was the Toyota RAV4 crossover, which sold 1.13 million units, which is 6% more than a year earlier.

On the second line of the absolute ranking in the ranking of the most popular cars in the world, Toyota Corolla settled, and on the third – Honda CR-V. Fourth place went to Nissan Sentra, fifth to Toyota Camry and sixth to Honda HR-V. In addition to these models, the top ten consisted of the Ford F-150, Toyota Hilux, Tesla Model 3 and Honda Accord. At the same time, it is curious that Tesla was in the TOP 10 for the first time in the history of research.

If you look at the nominations, the Honda HR-V became the most popular subcompact crossover. Next to him were Volkswagen T-Roc and Hyundai Creta in the top three. In the medium-sized SUV category, the podium will look like this: Toyota Highlander, Tesla Model Y and BMW X3. Small cars include the electric “Chinese” Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Volkswagen Polo and Suzuki Swift.

Pick-up truck enthusiasts most often voted in rubles for the Ford F-150, Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Sports car enthusiasts voted for the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and Porsche 911. And among the premium models, the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series, as well as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

It only remains to add that as part of the research, JATO Dynamics experts analyzed sales statistics in 106 markets on five continents, that is, they studied 99% of the volume of cars sold around the world.
