This week Enovix3D Silicon, a leader in the development and manufacture of next-generation lithium-ion batteries, has announced a new battery for electric vehicles that can be fully charged in less than 10 minutes.

According to a statement released by the company last Monday (13), EV test cells with a capacity of 0.27 Ah are capable of charging 0 to 80% from a state of charge in just 5.2 minutes.

The company has already used the same technology to create batteries for mobile radios, laptops, smartwatches and cell phones. Tests carried out have shown that the battery can reach 98% capacity in 10 minutes. The demonstrations were part of a three-year DOE concession program that aims to build high-capacity fast-charging batteries for electric vehicles.

Durability

The tests also showed that even after 1000 charge cyclesincluding at high temperatures, 3D silicon batteries withstand 93% your abilities. The couple was also reported to have a life expectancy of over 10 years for Enovix batteries.
