KamAZ trucks are known all over the world and enjoy unprecedented popularity. However, there are also passenger projects in the case of the Chelny Automobile Plant. The most ambitious of these is the next-generation city car, which is about to hit the market. However, not only Okoy can surprise the Russian car manufacturer. Or rather, could…

Almost everything is already known about the future, either “Oka” or “Kama”. Our craftsmen simply stuck their own nameplates on the Sehol E10X mini electric car, made by the Chinese at JAC. The small car drives thanks to a 61-horsepower electric motor, which is twice as much as the Soviet Oka could afford.

But the machine will hardly become a mass product: the people do not share their “green” suffering with the authorities or car builders. Give our brother “Euro-0”, if not “minus 1”. To be cheap and not even mad. And most importantly, to be repaired as soon as it broke. But what about the “electric locomotive”, which runs the risk of cooling down with the first frost and not coming to life without proper maintenance and components.

Another thing is that merchants will like such a machine to deliver anti-sanction citizens and other goods to customers over short distances. The electric car won’t get very far and we don’t have infrastructure in the country like we didn’t have one. Despite the vigorous lobbying of Greenpeace officials and propagandists to the masses.

In any case, a KamAZ passenger car has a right to exist. Leave in the initial stage and only for the sake of the image …

By the way, this is not the only electrical project of the Kama company. More than five years ago, the factory workers, in collaboration with NAMI, developed a minibus called the Shuttle, which was even shown to the public at the Moscow Motor Show in 2016.

A curious 12-seat car had no driver’s cabin, but moved thanks to artificial intelligence. The software allowed the car to navigate the roadway using a pair of lidars, as well as a scattering of sensors and video cameras. And the whole thing was powered by a 100 hp electric motor that could accelerate the Shuttle to 100 km/h. True, then the speed was limited to 40 km / h. Apparently, just in case, so to speak, away from sin…

The very first sign in the KamAZ passenger segment was a small car with the funny name “Mishka”, which received the factory designation 1101. In 1980, a two-seat car was designed. It was based on a fiberglass body and the protection of the riders was provided by side safety arches. Actually, it didn’t make the Mishka any safer, but it did boast the absence of doors and a roof.

The fashionable concept was given an engine of about 23 “stallions”, but the model was not expected to succeed. In fact, the only and last serial KamAZ passenger car was and remains the infamous Oka.
