On the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, a solemn ceremony of canceling the stamp took place at the State Historical Museum. Not an ordinary, but special commemorative coin – issued for the anniversary of the road builders memorial, located on the 71st kilometer of the M1 highway Belarus.
“Twenty years ago, the road builders chose a site, made a sketch, erected a beautiful monument. This is the most important road monument in the country,” said Vyacheslav Petushenko, chairman of the board of directors of the state-owned company Avtodor, during the solemn ceremony.
The achievement of the road builders, who bravely fought for victory in the Great Patriotic War, is now reflected not only in the bronze sculpture, but also on the commemorative stamp issued at the initiative of the state-owned company Avtodor. In addition, both philatelists and anyone can buy it at the post offices of the country: the issue price is 40 rubles.
Let’s add that this is not the first stamp produced on the proposal of a state-owned company. Last year, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a special set of stamps depicting the monument to those who died defending the homeland was installed on the 563rd kilometer of the M11 Neva highway, went on sale.
