Little and not pretty: Russia is struggling with an inevitable shortage of car primers
In Russia there is a shortage of body parts and paints. However, the lack of priming materials threatens to turn into a real disaster, because without them no body repairs can be done. As high-quality paint as it is, it will just peel off within a few days. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells what motorists are preparing for.

The AvtoVzglyad portal has already written about the car email shortage. During publication, the situation has changed, but for the worse. The Finnish company Tikkurila announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. But this is only half the effort. In the near future, there may be a shortage of car primers, and this will be much worse than the lack of lacquers themselves.

In the modern automotive industry, without primer – nowhere. Just treating, cleaning and degreasing a metal surface is not enough. It is imperative to prime it or else even the best paint will bubble and peel off within a week. What matters is not the skills of the craftsmen and not the quality of the materials, but the fact that metal and paint have very weak adhesive properties. That’s why a primer was invented. This is an intermediate layer between the body element and the paint layer, so that the “color” adheres well to the body parts. In addition, it also solves the corrosion problem. If there is a chip or scratch, the primer will prevent rust from forming.

Soil compositions are produced by the Polish Novol, the German Liqui Moly and Henkel. She sells the latter under the Loctite brand. As you can see, these are all foreign manufacturers. Now the logistics supply chains between Russia and Europe are broken. And the companies were in a difficult position. The same Henkel loudly left Russia, leaving many companies here.

There are also manufacturers in our country. Let’s say Astrohim. But can they all meet the demand? This is not an easy task, because primers have many compositions. For example, there are coarse-grained ones that are used to remove small defects. Fiberglass putties can be applied to any surface. In addition, they are extremely durable. Liquid putty is intended for the final leveling of the layer. Several types of connections are often used in bodywork repairs, which means that a shortage cannot be prevented.

Motorists will have to fix minor defects themselves. And this is a collective farm.
