Why is the M7 motorway being built up with plastic “squiggles”

In the coming years, thousands of cunningly shaped plastic shields will appear in the Vladimir region in particular on emergency sections of the M-7 highway from the Kovrov bend to Gorokhovets. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells why such “twirls” are necessary.

Mysterious shields 90 cm high and 22 cm wide with reflective reflectors on each side are anti-glare screens. From the name itself, it’s easy to guess that they prevent drivers from being dazzled by oncoming headlights.

Last year, thousands of such “squiggles” managed to appear on the southern bypass of the city of Vladimir. In addition, to close 32 kilometers of the road (from 184 to 216 kilometers), the road builders had to spend a significant 100 million rubles.

It should be noted that the drivers liked the innovation: it really became more comfortable to drive on the equipped section of the M7 motorway at night.

In 2022 and 2023, Uprdor Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod plans to install anti-glare screens in several other areas, including the most dangerous sections from Seninskie Dvoriki to Gorokhovets, where accidents often happen at night.
