In the range of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant there is a modern in-line “six” YaMZ-536 with a capacity of 6.6 liters. This is a very compact, but powerful enough motor that can produce up to 330 forces. However, soon this unit will have to increase both displacement and power.

The resulting diesel engine will be called YaMZ-537: it is planned to “remove” 345 to 360 horsepower from eight liters of working volume. This will be enough to make MAZ and Ural car factories, as well as Russian bus manufacturers, interested in the novelty.

Until the end of this year, Yaroslavl is preparing to assemble several prototypes, which will then be tested, Drom reports.

And continue the theme of engines. In 2006, the Russian KamAZ and the American Cummins opened a joint venture for the production of diesel engines. The ISBe series in-line “sixes” turned out to be so successful that 90% of KamAZ-65115 dump trucks were equipped with them! And recently Cummins withdrew from the joint venture. And now the auto giant from Naberezhnye Chelny, it seems, will have to look for a replacement …
