“Especially Russians who buy domestic cars can be exempted from paying transport tax for two or three years,” said State Secretary Vitaly Milonov of the State Duma. This thought of the legislator was discovered by RT in a copy of his appeal to the head of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce Denis Manturov.
According to Miolonov, thanks to the departure of foreign car manufacturers from Russia, the domestic auto industry has an opportunity to increase production and make a qualitative leap in the Russian market. In addition, the deputy believes that Russian car brands have the opportunity to expand exports.
Apparently, Mr. Milonov just doesn’t know what is really happening in the Russian car industry. Most of the factories, whose owners of foreign companies have not yet left Russia, just stand there, unable to get the parts necessary for assembly. Unless AVTOVAZ somehow managed to arrange the production of several thousand LADA Granta cars with a monstrous effort of all forces. And even then, without the ABS system, airbags and the ERA GLONASS unit. These cars are a drop in the ocean for the entire, albeit strongly shrinking, Russian car market.
And at the moment, Deputy Milonov is actually proposing to boost the demand for domestic cars with the help of tax breaks. It’s funny, but he seems to seriously believe that the warehouses of Russian car dealerships are littered with cars that just don’t want to be sold.
