Deputies from the State Duma have finalized a bill that would introduce tougher penalties for drivers who decide to drive after previously being deprived of “rights”. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” reports on the features of the novel.

According to the bill, it is proposed to increase the fine to 100,000 rubles for driving a car without “rights” again. And if the driver has been caught twice in such misconduct before, he will not receive an “administrative”, but a “criminal” article, Kommersant clarifies.

In this case, the legislators consider it necessary to introduce a fine from 150,000 to 250,000 rubles, hard labor up to 360 hours or imprisonment up to a year. In addition, if a person with a criminal record starts driving again under such an article, the fine will be from 200,000 to 300,000, and the prison sentence – up to two years.

Finally, they want to take cars away from people who have previously repeatedly been involved in driving without a license. But only if the vehicle belongs to the perpetrator. I wonder how many sales contracts are signed retroactively?

In addition, people who were punished for drink-driving, who had their “rights” returned and who were drunk behind the wheel again within a year, will be able to remain without a car. Or they have committed serious traffic violations (for example, entering an oncoming lane).

Now the deputies have moved on. A motorist who has been deprived of his “rights” cannot make use of a fifty percent discount on paying a fine. He will have to pay the full amount – 30,000 or 100,000 rubles, respectively.
