KAMAZ “picked up” a foreign factory for the production of braking systems

Factories that once belonged in whole or in part to foreign companies are gradually moving to new Russian owners. For example, the AvtoVzglyad portal has already said that Michelin will transfer its assets to “local management”, as did the world-renowned braking system manufacturer Knorr-Bremse AG.

So Knorr-Bremse AG withdrew from the capital of Knorr-Bremse Kama. Before that, the German industrial group owned 50% of the joint venture and now KAMAZ PJSC has become the sole owner of all the assets.

At the same time, according to the press service of the truck giant, the factory continues its production activities due to the high localization of products. In addition, Naberezhnye Chelny plans to develop a product line for KamAZ trucks.

We add that LLC with the complex name “Knorr-Bremse Kama Systems for Commercial Vehicles” has been operating in the Russian market for 15 years. It was engaged in the production of brake systems for trucks.

In addition, a joint venture for the production of Cummins diesel engines appears to have been closed in Naberezhnye Chelny. That the American side withdrew from the joint venture, said the director of the Chelny company RIAT. As a result, KamAZ is now forced to equip its trucks with the classic V-shaped “eight”, which is heavier and more voracious than the in-line Cummins. That is why the truck giant decided to choose an alternative option.
