Tire maker Nokian Tires finally leaves Russia

The second western tire supplier on the Russian market announced last day that it would withdraw from our country. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

Finnish tire manufacturer Nokian Tires has decided to initiate a “controlled withdrawal” from the Russian market, RIA Novosti reports. In addition to the distribution network, the group owns a company for the production of passenger tires in Russia in the city of Vsevolozhsk near St. Petersburg. The production capacity is more than 15 million car wheels per year.

— Preparations for exit will begin immediately and the company will evaluate various options. The process will be conducted taking into account the interests of local workers and the law,” the Finnish group said in an official statement.

At the same time, it was announced that Andrey Pantyukhov, who led the company’s management in Russia and Asia, is no longer a member of the Nokian Tires team from today.

A few hours earlier, it was announced that the French tire manufacturer Michelin also decided to completely cease its activities in Russia. Michelin plans to transfer its assets, including a production site with a capacity of 1.5-2 million passenger tires per year, located in Davydovo, 100 km from Moscow, to “local management”.
