Thus, the specialists of the KamAZ Scientific and Technical Center, advised by experts from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, created two new models of emergency vehicles based on K5 generation KAMAZ vehicles. These are the tank truck ATs-4.0-50/4 and the ladder truck AL-42.
The tanker is made on a two-axle chassis KAMAZ-63934 and is designed to carry a combat crew of 6 people, as well as four cubic meters of water. Under the cab is a 6-cylinder Cummins engine with 310 hp, with which an automated ZF gearbox is coupled.
A car ladder was also built on a similar chassis, which the manufacturer indecently calls “the most modern of Russian.” The working height is 42 meters, the angle of rotation is not less than 360° and the carrying capacity of the cradle is not less than 400 kilograms.
Both models of equipment are now undergoing a complex of works on fine tuning systems. After field testing, the vehicles are presented to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. True, most likely with a different set of units, as Cummins engines and ZF boxes are now a “sanction”.
In the meantime, the basis of the well-being of the KamAZ brand remains the classic series of trucks – the K3 generation. It is based on the 1976 design, which is especially noticeable in the small cramped cabin, for which KAMAZ has prepared a package of updates, however.
