At a press conference on June 30, General Mikhail Chernikov, the head of the Russian state’s traffic inspectorate, spoke about the upcoming changes in the department’s work, which will focus on identifying drug-addicted drivers. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.
“We are now reorganizing to be able to test drivers who use drugs so that they can already be banned from traffic, the vehicle must be detained,” said General Mikhail Chernikov.
According to him, by 2022, police officers identified more than 250,000 drunk drivers. Of these, every tenth was found to be caught again during the year.
As for the rapid detection of drugs in the bodies of drivers, most likely we are talking about express tests with which they want to equip traffic police inspectors, just as they were previously equipped with devices to “purify” drivers for alcohol intoxication.
It was previously reported that in order to test a motorist “for drugs” directly on the road, the intention is to conduct one-time express tests on police teams detecting banned substances in the test person’s saliva. For example, it appears that the traffic police will soon be offering drivers to not only “blow into a tube”, but also “spit into a pot”.
