Russian traffic cops were robbed of the deadliest way to extort bribes

The Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, interrupted a long tradition with one of his signatures, which drivers are unlikely to miss. From now on, it is forbidden for traffic cops to use portable devices to solve violations. The roadside police will no longer “hide in the bushes” to catch reckless motorists.

Traffic police inspectors will completely abolish the use of manual mobile photo and video recording systems. The reason for such an order from the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the abundance of stationary and mobile complexes that automatically register various types of violations.

Simply put, the minister felt that it was ineffective for his subordinates to “hide in the bushes”. At least for the treasury. But to replenish their own pockets – how effective. After all, the video cameras installed in the cars of the traffic police allow traffic cops to continue to take bribes from those who like to drive on the “oncoming vehicle” or the roadside. In order to eliminate the corruption component, the Interior Ministry has decided to ban traffic cops from using devices that are switched on and off manually. And with the budget replenishment, cameras for automatically detecting traffic violations are doing a good job.

In turn, the head of the main traffic safety directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Mikhail Chernikov, recently said that Russian motorists can safely accelerate to 150 km / h. They say that inland roads have improved significantly in quality in recent years.

But drunk drivers are a problem according to Mr Chernikov. In addition, the lieutenant general believes that motorists should be checked not only for alcohol, but also for drugs.
