Instead of powerful foreign engines, BelAZ decided to install the Russian YaMZ-E845 with an efficiency of “only” 730 hp. At the same time, in order to use such a low power (by class standards), the designers had to supplement the hybrid drive with a large battery with a capacity of no less than 730 kWh.
As a result, the Yaroslavl diesel engine runs the generator, which in turn powers the engine wheels and charges the battery. Accordingly, when leaving the quarry, the battery releases the accumulated energy, and when descending it accumulates, because the motor wheels already act as generators.
Belarusians are modest about the price of a hybrid car. But on the other hand, they proudly specify that most of the components, including the battery, are of Belarusian and Russian origin. Therefore, no sanctions are terrible for this dumper.
It is known that the Russian company “Stroyservis” from the Kemerovo region became interested in the novelty. First, the car will be tested, but BelAZ representatives are confident that they will be successful, so they began to create similar hybrids of other classes.
By the way, due to the fact that it is now simply impossible to buy airport equipment abroad, new prospects open up for the BelAZ car plant. In any case, Zhodino plans to prepare a lot of modern airport maintenance equipment, mainly airport tractors.
