Koreans suspected of fraud: searches in the offices of Kia and Hyundai

The Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia are suspected of fraud. Automakers are accused of falsifying the emissions of vehicles sold before 2020. How could a large-scale police investigation end for Asians?

German police raid eight Hyundai and Kia offices. The prosecutor’s office charged with falsifying the indicators of emissions of toxic substances into the atmosphere, which during the tests of vehicles were found to be lower than in everyday use. We are talking about diesel cars of both brands, sold, as mentioned earlier, until 2020.

It is worth adding that the Koreans have already agreed to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. But it is likely that Hyundai and Kia will have to pay huge fines if they prove their guilt, as happened with the Volkswagen group more than six years ago. In addition, several participants of the infamous dieselgate were even put on the international wanted list.

Claims of artificial underestimation of the emissions of harmful substances into the environment were once received by other brands. In particular premium Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Returning to the Koreans, it is worth recalling that the Asian car industry does not live only with a single exhaust. A few years ago, by the way, a very spicy scandal broke out around Hyundai, where female subordinates had to openly flirt with men who held high positions in the company for possible career growth. The publicity led to the resignation of several bosses, including Chan Yong-wok, head of the Hyundai Autoever division.
