The Lancia brand, which is part of the Stellantis concern, has approved a ten-year development plan. It involves the release of three electric cars, covering 50 percent of the market, switching to recycled materials and expanding the network of dealerships.
The first novelty under the brand’s revitalization program will be the fourth-generation Ypsilon subcompact. It will be followed by the Aurelia crossover and the Delta hatchback. At the same time, starting from 2026, all new Lancis will be electric, and from 2028, the Italians will completely stop selling cars from internal combustion engines.
The three pillars of Lancia’s ten year plan are sustainability, customer focus and social responsibility. In the structure of Stellantis, the brand is responsible for the premium segment and adheres to the Mercedes strategy. So far, only one point has been singled out in it – the growth of profitability due to the optimization of sales channels, the revision of production volumes and pricing. It is believed that this approach will allow the brand to become profitable and help to enter international markets.
To date, Lancia’s portfolio has only one model – Ypsilon. In its current form, the hatchback has been produced since 2011 and has long been asking for rest. The next generation Ypsilon will debut in 2024, both in hybrid and electric versions. In 2026, the first Lancia crossover will appear – also electric. For him, the Aurelia name, under which sedans, coupes and roadsters were produced in the 1950s, will be resurrected. Finally, in 2028, the iconic Delta will return, and at the same time, the company will stop selling ICE vehicles.
The design of “Lanci” will follow global trends, taking into account timeless things. For example, the traditional shape of the radiator grille in the form of a bowl will be preserved, but it will be modernized with the help of luminous elements. Lancia is also going to massively use recycled materials – and in this indicator to surpass all Stellantis brands. The plan calls for 50 percent of touchable surfaces to be made from recycled or environmentally friendly materials.
To control on-board functions, the SALA (Sound Air Light Augmented) virtual interface will appear in the machines. Apparently, we are talking about augmented reality. And the same interaction experience will be transferred to dealerships. In ten years there will be a hundred more. Showrooms will open in 60 major European cities, but up to half of sales will take place online.
