The capital’s TsODD announced a sharp reduction in the speed limit in central Moscow. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.

We keep changing speeds. 30 and 50 km / h – on Tverskaya, Bolshaya Ordynka, Pyatnitskaya, Rozhdestvenka, Solyanka and embankments. There are three lanes on Solyanka, 24 bus lines pass through. They carry 50,000 passengers daily. There are many cultural objects here – nobody drives above 30 km/h – according to the official report of the Moscow Deptrans.

The agency assures that the reduction of the speed limit will not affect traffic jams. Its representatives believe that cars in the city center during the day do not drive faster than 30-40 km/h. As for the movement in the evening and night along the streets that have fallen under the new restrictions, the Deptrans message remains modestly silent.

And as usual, the department’s PR people refer to some world experience, assuring motorists and Moscow residents that cities around the world slow the speed of cars “to make the urban environment safe.” Of course, not a single name is given of a major foreign city that has seen such activity in the Deptrans release. So if motorists now drive through several streets of the capital at once, they will be fined for driving at their usual pace.
