More recently, the AvtoVzglyad portal was surprised at how cleverly domestic airlines began to dismantle the comtrans of “heavenly” production. And only a few weeks have passed since the brands from China confidently “chopped off” nearly 40 percent of the market share.
From July 4 to July 10, 582 new trucks from China were sold, which is 37.6% of the total. The leader among the “Chinese” somewhat unexpectedly became the Howo brand, which added 190 units of equipment. However, 188 Shacman cars were sold, so it is these two brands that will clearly become the main bestsellers in the Russian market. In addition, FAW (82 units), JAC (71 units) and… Hongyan (27 units) are selling quite well.
In general, the first week of July saw demand for heavy trucks increase by 2%, while sales of “Chinese” immediately increased by 7%. So KamAZ’s marketers are probably nervous now, because the intervention begun by Asian companies could significantly undermine the domestic flagship’s position.
Obviously, carriers are much more willing to buy a modern “Asian” than the classic KamAZ K3 series – with a cramped cabin, a voracious “eight” and a floating level of quality. Unfortunately, production of the super popular K4 family has been curtailed and the latest generation K5 won’t be returning to the assembly line until six months later.
