Rally “Silk Way-2022”: “Mad Max” reached Grozny
Rally “Silk Way-2022” leaves the country of Astrakhan and leaves for Grozny. The total run of the fourth day of the marathon is about 600 km, of which 344 “fights”, which greatly upset the athletes.

“Today everyone had a rough day,” Alexander Rusanov, the pilot of the GAZ Reid Sport team, said of the race. – There are few interesting high-speed roads where athletes can really enjoy themselves. In short – hard swotting on potholes. In general, it would be nice to get the car to the finish as a whole, and not in parts…

The best result of the day was shown by Vladimir Vasiliev. Krotov follows him, the third in T3 is taken by the crew of Alexander Rusanov / Evgeny Pavlov (“GAZ Reid Sport”). The boys arrived, but the equipment of others cannot withstand the heaviest loads. Andrey Rudskoy didn’t make it to the start – his sport G-Force BARS breaks down all the time and yesterday he couldn’t finish due to engine failure. Lost all hope of prizes and Anastasia Nifontova. According to the results of the first three days, the racer summed up the sad result:

– Lost two races in one day: This happens in technical sports. We got off to a good start, found a good steady pace “with a margin and without fanaticism”, But soon luck showed us his smooth, huge ass. First the cardan fork broke and it took us about forty minutes to disconnect it from the front gearbox, tie it up and continue on the rear wheel drive. And then the left rear CV joint “died” and we were left in soft sand with a one-wheel drive. It was impossible to go any further. We decided to remove the drive from the front wheel and put it back. Parsing the car in the sand in the heat isn’t the fastest thing, and even here luck added “dessert”: no matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t get the drivetrain out of the gearbox without a puller. And when they realized we no longer fit the standard, everyone somehow gathered and rode one wheel to the tarmac. We reached the finish line, marked ourselves, but about 13 minutes was not enough to meet the regulations. Now we have a 22 hour penalty and no chance to fight for high positions in the race. And since the first three days are also a stage of the Russian Championship, we lost it too…

KamAZ Karginova broke down – stood on the track in a puddle of leaked engine oil. KamAZ Sergey Kupriyanov broke the hub of the left front wheel. The repair took about three and a half hours. The MAZ-SPORTcar team fails to catch up to KAMAZ MASTER, although, as you can see, their cars break down. Yesterday the wheels of the inhabitants of Minsk were torn. The epidemic continues today.

“It’s hard for cars,” laments Sergey Vyazovich. – We barely reached the temperature on the salt marsh. The plateau is long. We even stopped in one place after the salt marsh – the temperature was 107 degrees. And throw, throw, throw. You’re already too lazy to slow down, there were a few jumps. You look – a springboard, you think to “move” it and – straight into the air. I don’t know how the T3 category guys will get there if they bust all the drivetrains/suspensions there. We even cracked the rear superstructure after these jumps. Well, it’s very difficult. I can’t imagine how we will pass the 480km marathon stage on our wheels…
Constantly junk “Niva” Dmitry Voronov. Today the gear lever went off. The crew repaired the car on the track for about 40 minutes and as a result took second place in the T2 category. Aleksey Naumov dominates in the motorcycle standings. In the ATV category, Alexander Maksimov, the winner of ShP-2021, is the best. This tough stage also exhausted GAZ Raid Sport team pilot Evgeny Sukhovenko, who is usually distinguished by optimism:

– Yesterday there were difficulties that we created for ourselves – we deformed the car and arrived on a “broom”. We didn’t like it, we decided we’ll get there today for sure. I can say that it was the most eagerly anticipated finish of the last four days, because the special stage seemed endless. The first 300 km I waited for the road I would like to start. Then the relief really came, some trees. And before that, it was like being on the set of Mad Max. While driving, third gear left our “ship”, we were forced to accelerate quickly to second, then engage fourth gear and wait for it to start moving. And yet we are ready, now we will reach the service park, where everything will be repaired for us, and we will rush further …

Tomorrow is the equator of the rally: a round stage on the territory of the Chechen Republic with a length of 298 km, of which 218 “fights”.
