Thus, here are established elements of a complex planning structure – an undeveloped central “square”, a street, estate buildings and a necropolis. All this indicates the extraordinary status of the settlement, which clearly performed administrative functions – representatives of the elite lived in it.
Scientists have found styluses, book bindings, arrowheads, a dozen seals, as well as a rich collection of small Christian plastic art, represented by various types of crosses and other decorations. The archaeologists were especially pleased with the double-sided pendant icons. Similar circular images are present in a large area from Kiev to Belozerye, but they are not numerous. In terms of quality and conservation, the icon from Chaadaev is one of the best.
And the rarest find is an equilateral cross, characterized by expanding blades and a relief image of a crucifix. Products date back to the X-XI centuries, that is, they belong to the early stage of the Christianization of Russia.
