Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree that will greatly facilitate and lower the registration of cars imported into our country in the Russian register. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.
Until recently, in Russia there was a procedure according to which, for the first registration with the traffic police of a car, it had to be equipped with an ERA-GLONASS alarm button. This applied, among other things, to used vehicles imported into Russia by citizens. Due to known problems with the supply of microelectronics to Russia, ERA-GLONASS units have become a real shortage in recent months, and equipping a car with an “SOS button” has increased in price by 10-15 times – up to 70,000 – 100,000 rubles.
For this reason, importing cars from abroad was very difficult. Now no car imported into Russia, be it a legal person or a citizen, needs to be equipped with an ERA-GLONASS unit. When registering with the traffic police, his presence is not checked. But only temporarily. Mishustin introduced such an order until February 1, 2023. According to the calculations of the authorities, by the winter of next year, the country will be able to regulate the supply of electronic components for units with the GLONASS module in the same volumes, which will allow them to start again with their massive installation on cars. If the problems with microelectronic components persist after six months, the simplified procedure for registering a vehicle is likely to be extended.
