Hundreds of thousands of “lucky letters” sent to foreign drivers

According to the traffic police, hundreds of thousands of fines have been handed out to drivers from other countries in the past six months for violations recorded by automatic photo and video recording systems. So, from January to June, guests of our country earned 342,000 “lucky letters”, in addition, more than 70% are receipts for speeding from 20 to 40 km / h.

As TASS clarifies, it is now much more difficult for foreigners to break traffic rules than before. After all, the traffic police inspectors who patrol the roads regularly slow down cars from other countries. This means that every stopped car is checked against the databases for the presence of previously registered violations.

If applicable, the relevant data will be passed on to the employees of the automated violation registration centres. And already there the owner of the car is fined. We add that the abundance of unpaid fines can lead to a ban on entry to the territory of the Russian Federation for a foreign citizen.

Meanwhile, the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) has told who will pay for damages resulting from an accident caused by a motorist arriving in Russia from Ukraine’s Luhansk or Donetsk regions. The AvtoVzglyad portal reports the details of the compensation mechanism.
