Today, an electric car in Russia is a toy for the rich. After all, despite the fact that “electric trains” are technically simpler than cars with combustion engines, their prices are significantly higher. And what to expect? How will prices change as infrastructure develops and government support increases? These and other questions were answered by the experts who participated in the online conference of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Calling electric cars in Russia toys for the rich is already difficult, says an electric vehicle expert Alexey Shvaikov. And all because the share of “green” vehicles in the country’s fleet is still growing, albeit quite slowly. And that, in turn, is due to the fact that the infrastructure is developing gradually.

“There is such a scale effect: if there are more electric vehicles, they get cheaper,” said Mr. Shvaikov.

Previously, the choice of electric vehicles in Russia was very small. Officially, only premiums delivered their “trains” to our country – in particular, Porsche, Jaguar, Audi, BMW. For the mass segment, JAC iEV7S “pulled alone”, but it didn’t last long. Now that many automakers have parted ways with Russia, the only hope for imports remains. And he’s ready to really surprise.

Teslas of all kinds have been imported into our Vast via “grey” routes for many years, so there are no surprises here. They were prepared by Chinese car manufacturers, which in the near future will flood the Russian market with affordable electric trains. What does “available” mean? Those new “green” cars, the cost of which in their homeland does not exceed $ 5000 – $ 6000, explained the columnist of the Drom portal Sergey Tsyganov.

If the exchange rate does not rise again, cheap electric trains from China, even taking into account all the additional costs – customs duties, recycling costs, interest for the seller – will be able to compete with the “anti-crisis” LADA Granta. Not to mention scarce and incredibly expensive new foreign cars.

It is already possible today to order an “electric train” from China, which will cost only 1.1-1.2 million rubles. It will be a two-seater “capsule” from Wuling, but still.

Importantly, we are not talking about official deliveries, but about “grey” imports. And therefore, if the Russians show interest in “heavenly” electric cars, then the volume of imported cars will grow very quickly. By that time, Russian factories will also start producing their “electric trains”. And where there is domestic production, there are state subsidies.
