Tesla discovered a serious problem in 127,785 electric vehicles manufactured in China between January 11, 2019 and January 25, 2022.

Among the recalled electric cars, there are 34,207 copies imported into China from the United States. The remaining 93,578 models were built at the Shanghai Gigafactory.

Since electric vehicles were produced at different enterprises, there is most likely a global error in the Tesla production cycle. According to the company, the defect is caused by slight differences in the power semiconductor components of the rear motor inverters. Such a malfunction can cause serious damage to the motor.

The inverter may fail during parking. Then the driver will be able to start the electric car. If the element breaks, the machine will simply stop. Many Model Y and Model 3 owners have already experienced rear engine failures. Tesla specialists will fix the defect in electric vehicles using remote software flashing.
