The AvtoVzglyad portal closely follows the fate of the Sobol NN project: a few weeks ago, our editors even managed to view a pre-production copy of this novelty. And now details have come in about the timing of the model’s entry into the Russian market.

Since foreign brands have left Russian carriers without small vans for various reasons, the GAZ group is in a hurry to occupy a sharply empty niche. Thus, the forthcoming Sobol NN will not only be an alternative for the Ford Transit vans, but also for the more compact Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert.

In order to accelerate the production of the model on the gas transporter, the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) will provide the GAZ Group with a concessional loan in the amount of 828 million rubles. In general, the start of production of the new Sobol will cost the Nizhny Novgorod automaker 3.25 billion rubles.

It is planned to start production before the end of this year: dealers assume that live cars will appear in the warehouses of the Russian brand by the end of autumn.

In current reality, a gasoline bus costs about 2,200,000 rubles, and a diesel bus 150-200 thousand more. Pure freight versions will be the first to go in the series, and then – freight passenger and passenger versions.

We add that due to its small dimensions (vehicle length – 5120 mm) and small turning circle (5.4 m), the gas van can easily drive through narrow streets and busy warehouses, plus parking in yards without hindering cars.

In general, given the very interesting cost, compact size and, as already mentioned, the virtually absence of competitors, the Russians will receive a very interesting offer equally suitable for both commercial and family use.
