Another criminal gang, including police officers, was liquidated in southern Russia. How highway law enforcement officers confused motorists, the AvtoVzglyad portal says.
– At the beginning of the month, 14 members of a criminal group active in the Stavropol area were arrested. It included 11 traffic police officers, as well as civilians. Last year, the unit commander, Nikolai Dmitrienko, organized a criminal group to systematically extort bribes, including his subordinates. Police officers threatened motorists with forgery of evidence and criminal charges for drug trafficking, forcing them to give them bribes, – said the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin RG.
The Pyatigorsk media claims that Dmitrienko’s deputy, Police Lieutenant Maxim Chaika, was also detained at the time. In addition, the gang consisted of local detective Captain Artem Uzden, seven PPS officers and a driver. It is also reported that a gang of police officers is suspected of extorting money from citizens suspected of drug possession.
Recall that a few years ago the infamous Kushchevsky traffic police station on the M4 Don highway became famous for the fact that the traffic police officers who worked on it during inspections of cars passing through the checkpoint planted drugs on their drivers and then extorted money from them – because it will not initiate criminal cases over the possession of prohibited substances.
Due to the scandal that broke out in the media, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB organized a very special operation to investigate the activities of military personnel from “Kushchevka”. Evidence of falsification of criminal drug possession cases was not officially discovered at the time. However, Kushchevsky’s post was eventually closed.
As early as 2022, the FSB, along with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, “covered up” a whole gang of traffic police officers in the Rostov region. Subsequently, about a hundred former and current employees of the local traffic police were detained. All are involved in extorting bribes from drivers who drove along the M4 Don through the traffic police post of the Traffic Police No. 1 in Aksai city from 2017 to 2020. Rostov “werewolves” photographed passing vehicles. The resulting images were edited to include imaginary traffic violations. “Photoshopped” photo material was immediately sent to accomplices – traffic cops – a few miles from the shooting site. The latter stopped the victims’ cars, handed them false evidence of violations and printed bribes for not completing the protocols. The amounts of bribes ranged from 5,000 to 500,000 rubles.
