A new article of the Criminal Code – 264.3 – has entered into force. It punishes a citizen who has been deprived of “rights” for driving a car. That is, if a person was deprived of a VU “for drinking” or “for oncoming traffic”, then, if caught again in this violation, he will be fined at least 150-200,000 rubles, and a maximum – imprisonment of at most two years. In addition, the Criminal Code now also provides for the possibility to confiscate a motorist’s car in favor of the state – by a court decision.
That is, for a fall back into the oncoming lane deprived of “rights” for this or, for example, for an accident with serious injuries, a person has the chance not only to go to prison for a few years , but also to have his car to lose.
Parallel to the novels in the Criminal Code, a new part 4 of Art. 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. She speaks of administrative responsibility for the re-driving of a car by a driver who has previously been deprived of “rights”, if his actions show no signs of a criminal offense. The new article of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for a fine of 50-100,000 rubles or compulsory labor of 150-200 hours.
