Why the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ New Safety Standard Forces Drivers to Avoid

In early summer, Russia approved the national standard for the so-called rescue cards. It will enable faster and more efficient rescue of people in case of serious accidents. However, an undeniably useful initiative could raise the price tags of already expensive cars, which will not have the best effect on the dying car market. The AvtoVzglyad portal understood the nuances of the new standard.

There are more and more technologically advanced vehicles on our roads, such as hybrids and electric vehicles. Unfortunately, they have accidents, sometimes quite serious. And the first responders who responded to the call often have no idea how to work with innovative models. Thus, the question of how to properly cut the body of an “electric train” often arises. After all, these machines have a power cable, with which the rescuer can receive a deadly electric shock if touched.

In general, the development of a single standard and a “map of salvation” has been brewing for a long time. Thus, it was prepared by the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies (VNII GOChS) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency. The document will enter into force on February 1, 2023.

– Rescue map gives you the best view of the car. This is especially true in the event of an accident, when rescuers, having received full information about the car, can help the victims quickly and have time to do so during the “golden hour”. At the same time, the information received makes it possible to carry out the work in such a way as to protect the rescue workers themselves,” reports TASS, the words of Vladimir Moshkov, deputy head of the VNII GOChS. He also clarifies that before the entry into force of GOST, it is the intention to develop concept GOSTs regarding the symbols and characters themselves for assembling a “rescue card”.

It is expected that the “rescue card” will be developed by the car manufacturer, and so far on a voluntary basis, but according to the same standards and rules. It is issued in the form of an electronic document and placed in an open information system.

That is, most likely, we are talking about the path taken by the Germans. For example, on Mercedes-Benz cars you can already find a sticker with a QR code, which, when you go to the site, allows you to understand where the wiring goes and how the drive elements of a particular model are designed.

The idea of introducing a “rescue card” is certainly a good one. But how will it be implemented in today’s reality? Manufacturers probably won’t do this just yet. They would like to know when sanctions will ease to restore supplies. And new cars imported into the country through parallel imports will certainly not have such stickers. However they had to be applied by the dealers themselves, and already forced. This is not expensive electronics like ERA-GLONASS, but a simple sticker. Here the authorities can oblige them to do so. Such a decision can lead to an increase in car prices, which will immediately affect their sales.
