Anti-Russian sanctions and the collapse of the new car market forced the government to temporarily cancel the requirements for installing the ERA-GLONASS system on imported cars and obtaining Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) for legal entities. But despite these concessions, according to experts, despite these concessions, parallel imports will not solve the problem of the shortage of cars.

So, according to Sergey Vainer, director of development of Avtopole, parallel imports will not be able to completely replace the volume of foreign cars previously supplied by official suppliers – their share will not exceed 20-30%. Therefore, Chinese automakers will come to the fore, increasing so-called centralized imports.

Andrey Olkhovsky, general manager of Avtodom Group of Companies, in turn, added in an interview with the Avtostat agency that official dealers can import a total of 2,000-3,000 cars per month. At the same time, premium brands will make up the majority, because regardless of the cost of the vehicle, logistics costs are about the same. And in such cases, selling expensive cars for sellers is much more profitable.

In terms of specific countries, parallel imports through the UAE and other Persian Gulf countries, South Korea, Azerbaijan, China and of course the Customs Union – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan seems to be the most attractive economically. True, it must be remembered that cars from these countries are not adapted to Russian conditions – that is, they do not undergo additional anti-corrosion treatment of the body and cannot boast of a complete winter package, Denis Migal, CEO of the Fresh Auto car dealer network, warned.
