As you know, the office of the mayor of Moscow, assisted by KamAZ, plans to revive the former factory of the Renault brand, now called MAZ Moskvich, by the end of this year. The AvtoVzglyad portal reports the details of the upcoming revival.

Thus, by the end of this year, 5 billion rubles will be invested in the project to revive the production of cars under the Moskvich brand. This is a very modest amount by automotive industry standards, which alone will be enough to organize a “screwdriver” assembly of cars. In comparison, the GAZ group plans to spend 3.25 billion on the launch of the new Sobol NN, although in fact a shortened version of the Gazelle is on the assembly line.

As for Moskvich, the funds will be jointly contributed by the Moscow government and PJSC KamAZ, the TASS agency reports. Both parties will make investments through additional financing of the production site, and the main purpose of these investments is to adapt the production capacity and localize the production of components.

Which cars the capital will produce is still a mystery. On the one hand, KamAZ, which acts as an industrial partner of Moskvich, has a long-term partner – the JAC brand. But whether this “heavenly” automaker wants to share its cars is now a big question. KamAZ was, after all, subject to targeted American sanctions.

Therefore, Iran has become a very likely contender for the Moscow conveyor belt development. Recently, information appeared that another brand from the Middle East – SAIPA – is ready to offer the Russians the Tondar 90 model. This is the very first generation of Logan, which the Iranians “nationalize”, that is, produce them without the participation of Renault.
