Why a flood of used foreign cars from Europe will soon be pouring into Russia

Lithuania – one of the main suppliers of used “Europeans” on the Russian market – has significantly simplified the procedure for selling cars to foreigners. The AvtoVzglyad portal reports the details of this reform.

If a car sales transaction recently took place on the territory of Lithuania, the buyer and seller had to contact the “Regitra” branch, a state organization also engaged in vehicle registration, among other things. True, this rule applied only to buyers who came from abroad, and in other cases, only the seller visited the “Regitra”.

From August 1, the mechanism will change: within 5 working days of the conclusion of the transaction, the former owner of the car is obliged to submit a unilateral declaration, on the basis of which the car is removed from the national register. This service will also be available online.

As the Lithuanian authorities assure, now from time to time there are queues in the “Regitra”, because due to the depreciation of the euro, Russians and Belarusians are very actively buying all kinds of “second-hand” cars. And with the new rules, the number of transactions should increase significantly.

By the way, the rules for buying a used car ombi have recently changed in Belarus. President of the country Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree protecting buyers from unscrupulous sellers of used cars. This document cancels the well-known “bill-bill”, according to which cars previously left car dealers.
